SMP Refresh Touch-up
An SMP (Scalp Micropigmentation) touch-up and refresh is a routine session designed to restore faded pigment, redefine blurred hairlines, and maintain consistent density. Most clients require a 1–2 hour refresh session every 2 to 5 years to keep their results looking sharp and natural.
-
- Fading or Lighter Tone: The most obvious sign is the pigment becoming washed out compared to its original shade.
- Blurred Hairline: A once-sharp and crisp hairline can start to look blurry or uneven over time.
- Loss of Density: Fading can make the scalp appear thinner or patchy, especially if you had SMP for diffuse thinning.
- Uneven Fading: Sun exposure or sweat can cause certain areas (like the crown) to fade faster than others.
What the Session Involves
-
- 1 to 5 Year Top-Up: Usually takes just a single 1 to 2-hour session.
- Matching & Adjustments: The technician matches your current shade or darkens it if your hair has naturally grayed.
- Style Changes: Many clients use this time to slightly lower their hairline or opt for a softer look as they age.
Prolonging Your SMP Results
To maximize the time between your refresh sessions, practitioners highly recommend daily sun protection. Using broad-spectrum, lightweight SPF 30 or SPF 50 before going outdoors prevents UV rays from breaking down the pigment
